Privacy Policy - Blindspotter
Other Ground News products
This Privacy Policy only applies to the Ground News Blindspotter tool, which requires very little data to generate the results page and the shareable image. For the Privacy Policy of Ground News’ mobile applications, website, browser extension, newsletters or other products, please see here.
Data used by the Tool
The Ground News Blindspotter tool uses publicly-available tweets and interactions, including Likes, Retweets, and Replies, to generate the news diet analysis provided by the tool. Private profiles cannot be accessed or analyzed using the tool.
No login required
Neither logging in to Twitter, nor permissions to access or use Twitter accounts are required to use the Tool. You may be given the option to log in if Ground News has used up its quota of requests to Twitter, in a 15-minute time window. Logging in to Twitter via Ground News allows the tool to make a request to Twitter on behalf of your account instead of the Ground News account which may have exhausted its quota. Logging in is entirely optional as more slots open up every 15 minutes.
Data storage and deletion
The tool does not collect nor stores private information. The tool only caches the results, using publicly-available profile data, for any profiles that the tool is used to analyze. This result data is stored to avoid making repeat requests to Twitter for the same profile. Detailed tweet-level calculations of the analysis are permanently deleted after the profile is analyzed.
